We would like to update you with the streamlining of our Prescription Line; the former Harley House prescription line number 702874 had been running alongside our new telephone system. However in order to simplify telephone prescription requests, all calls should be made by dialling the main surgery number 01643 703441 and selecting option 2. The prescription line is available from 9am – 12 noon, Mon – Fri.

 

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS 4) Activation

On 11th June 2020, Minehead Medical Centre is activating the next phase of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS 4) which will mean that almost all prescriptions will be processed electronically. Electronic prescriptions help save the NHS money.

For patients with a nominated pharmacy, which we highly encourage all patients to have, there will be no change in the way you order and collect your prescriptions.

If you would like to change your nominated pharmacy you can do this easily by letting us know when you order you next prescription. If you do not have a nominated pharmacy our clinicians or prescription clerks will ask you to nominate a pharmacy when you next request medication.

if there is a reason that your prescription cannot go to your nominated pharmacy, your prescription will be signed and sent electronically to the NHS Spine. You will then be given a Phase 4 token with a scannable barcode instead of a signed prescription. The barcode can then be scanned by any pharmacy to download your prescription from the NHS Spine. This option will only be used in exceptional circumstances and we encourage all patients to nominate a pharmacy so that your prescriptions can be sent directly to your chosen pharmacy.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS ARE AUTHORISED BY THE DOCTOR, AND MEAN YOU CAN REQUEST A LIMITED NUMBER OF PRESCRIPTIONS WITHOUT FURTHER CONSULTATIONS.  YOU CAN REQUEST A PRESCRIPTION ON-LINE, IN PERSON, BY POST OR BY TELEPHONE.

WE HAVE A DEDICATED NUMBER FOR REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS. THE NUMBER IS 01643 703441, OPTION 2.  THIS NUMBER IS AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 09:00 AND 12:00 ON WEEKDAYS. 

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS CAN ALSO BE REQUESTED BY EMAILING SOMCCG.MMCPRESCRIPTIONS@NHS.NET. THIS EMAIL IS FOR REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS ONLY.

IF YOUR MEDICATION REQUEST IS URGENT PLEASE CONTACT OUR PRESCRIPTION LINE. 

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH WITH YOUR REQUEST. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT REQUESTS FOR “ALL REPEATS” OR REQUESTS WITH LIMITED INFORMATION ARE LIKELY TO RESULT IN A DELAY IN THE PROCESSING OF MEDICATION. IN SUCH INSTANCES, STAFF WILL NEED TO CONTACT YOU TO DISCUSS YOUR EXACT REQUIREMENTS.

If your correspondence relates to a request for medical treatment or any urgent matter please contact our Patient and Practitioner Services team on 01643 703441 (8:30am – 6:30pm). Our prescription line is available for any medication queries or prescription requests on the same number (9am - 12 noon, Monday – Friday).

Our GPs and clinical team cannot provide medical advice by email. General information for the attention of a GP will be passed on if requested.

If your medication request is urgent please contact our prescription line on 01643 703441 (Option 2). 9am - 12 noon, Monday - Friday.

Please include your name and date of birth with your request. Please be advised that requests for “all repeats” or requests with limited information are likely to result in a delay in the processing of medication. In such instances, staff will need to contact you to discuss your exact requirements.
